    Mountain Roads & Driveway Access

Havenwood is tucked high in the mountains, which means the roads leading to the cabin, including the road it is on, can be steep and winding in certain areas. While most guests have no trouble reaching the property in normal weather conditions, those who are uncomfortable driving mountain roads may prefer a location at a lower elevation. The beautiful panoramic views and secluded setting are part of what make the experience here so special, and the drive is well worth it for guests who enjoy a true mountain getaway.

    Winter Weather & Snow Conditions

During winter months, weather conditions can change quickly in the mountains. If snow, ice, or heavy rain are expected, we strongly recommend arriving in a vehicle with four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, good ground clearance, and appropriate winter tires or chains if needed. Severe winter weather may temporarily impact access to the cabin, so guests should monitor forecasts closely and make travel decisions accordingly.

    Nature & Wildlife

Havenwood is surrounded by forest, so encounters with insects and other outdoor critters can occur during your stay — especially during warmer months. While the cabin is professionally maintained, an occasional bug may still find its way inside. To help minimize this, we recommend keeping doors and windows closed when possible and storing food securely after meals. When disposing of trash, please relatch the trash cans to minimize disturbances.

  • The hot tub is available year round and is serviced between every guest stay. We ask you do not raise the temperature above 101 degrees for the safety of guests and return it back to 95 when not in use. Please no food or glass in the pool - plastic and metal drink ware is provided.

The wood burning fireplace is available November - March. Please refer to the fireplace instructions prior to use and adhere to use only in season. The outdoor fire pit is available for year round use and we provide a bundle for each guest stay. Additional wood may be purchased at a nearby home supply store.

While the cabin was designed with families in mind, there are elements to the cabin’s open design that may not be best suited for young children. NOTE: The 4th bedroom is an open loft and the upstairs hall has a catwalk with railings open to the first floor. Children should be supervised to ensure safety when on the second floor. It should also be noted that there are elements in the basement in the built in bar that are not child safe (such as glass, etc), as well as near the open wood burning fireplace or fire pit when in use.
